You Are Not Behind, You Are Building
A devotional for the woman who measures herself against a clock that isn’t hers
Scripture
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1
Today’s Truth
You scroll. You compare. You look at where other people are at your age, your stage, your years in business – and a quiet voice whispers, “you’re behind.”
But behind WHAT, exactly? Behind WHOSE timeline?
There is a season for everything. A season to plant and a season to harvest. A season to labor in obscurity and a season to be seen. A season to lay foundation and a season to build the house on top of it. You don’t skip seasons just because you’re impatient with them. And you’re not LATE just because your harvest hasn’t shown up on someone else’s schedule.
What feels like delay might actually be DEPTH. What feels like falling behind might actually be FOUNDATION. The woman who skips the planting season to rush to harvest ends up with nothing sustainable. But the woman who honors her season – who plants when it’s time to plant, builds when it’s time to build, waits when it’s time to wait – she ends up with a harvest that LASTS.
You are not behind. You are in a SEASON. And seasons aren’t measured against someone else’s calendar. They’re measured by what God is producing in you RIGHT NOW that you can’t rush.
Your Moment
Today, stop measuring your life against a timeline that was never assigned to you. Ask instead: what season am I actually IN? What does THIS season require of me?
If it’s a planting season, plant without panic. If it’s a building season, build without comparing your scaffolding to someone else’s finished house. If it’s a waiting season, wait without shame.
You’re not behind. You’re exactly where this season requires you to be.
Prayer
God, free me from the comparison clock I’ve been measuring myself against. Help me honor the season I’m actually in instead of rushing toward one that isn’t mine yet. Give me peace about my pace and confidence in Your timing. I’m not behind. I’m building. Show me what this season requires, and give me the patience to do it well. Amen.
You’re not behind. You’re building. Honor your season. The harvest is coming.
