Stewardship Before Increase

Stewardship Before Increase

A devotional for the woman who wants more but needs to manage what she already has

Scripture

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” – Luke 16:10
Today’s Truth

You’re praying for the bigger contract, the larger team, the next income stream, the expanded influence. And that prayer is good. God wants to increase you. But increase has a prerequisite, and most people skip right past it.
Stewardship comes before increase. Always.
It’s not “pray for more and you’ll get it.” It’s “manage what you have well, and THEN you’ll be trusted with more.” The widow’s oil didn’t multiply because she asked for new jars – it multiplied because she used the vessels she already had with faith and obedience. The servants in the parable weren’t given more talents because they begged for them – they were given more because they were faithful with what they were already holding.
So before you ask God for the next level, ask yourself: am I managing THIS level well? Is the money in my account being stewarded with wisdom, or is it leaking out through impulse and disorganization? Is the time I have right now being used with intention, or am I wasting hours waiting for a bigger calendar to suddenly make me disciplined? Are the relationships I currently have being nurtured, or am I neglecting what’s in front of me while reaching for what’s not here yet?
God isn’t withholding increase to punish you. He’s withholding it to protect you – because increase without stewardship doesn’t build wealth, it builds a mess with more zeros attached.

Your Moment

Today, before you ask for more, audit what you already have. Your current income – is it managed wisely? Your current time – is it used intentionally? Your current relationships, opportunities, resources – are they being stewarded with excellence?
Tighten up what’s already in your hands. That’s the fastest path to what’s not in your hands yet.

Prayer

God, before I ask You for more, help me steward what I already have with excellence. Show me where I’ve been careless with the current level so I can tighten it up. I want to be trusted with much, so make me faithful with little first. Increase me responsibly, God – not just abundantly. Amen.
Stewardship comes before increase. Manage what you have. The more is coming.
