When God Closes Doors

When God Closes Doors

A devotional for the woman learning to trust the closed door as much as the open one

Scripture

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
Today’s Truth

That door you wanted to walk through? The one you prayed about, prepared for, believed for? It closed.
And it HURT. Because you were READY. You did the work. You had the vision. You could see yourself on the other side of it. You believed it was for you.
But God said NO. And that rejection stings. That closed door feels like failure. Like wasted effort. Like maybe you missed something or did something wrong.
But here’s what you need to understand: GOD CLOSES DOORS FOR A REASON.
Sometimes He closes doors to PROTECT you from something you can’t see. That partnership that fell through? He saw the red flags you didn’t. That opportunity that didn’t land? He knew it would cost you more than it would give you. That door that shut in your face? He was blocking you from something that wasn’t BEST for you, even if it looked GOOD.
Sometimes He closes doors to REDIRECT you. Because the path you wanted isn’t the path HE has for you. And His path is better. His plan is bigger. His vision for your life is greater than anything you could plan for yourself.
And sometimes He closes doors to PREPARE you. Because you’re not ready YET for what’s on the other side. He’s building something IN you before He opens something TO you.
The closed door isn’t rejection. It’s PROTECTION. It’s REDIRECTION. It’s PREPARATION.

Your Moment

Today, release the door that closed. Stop trying to force it open. Stop mourning what wasn’t meant for you. Stop questioning God’s decision.
Thank Him for the NO that’s protecting you. Trust Him with the redirection that’s coming. Believe that He’s preparing you for something BETTER than what you wanted.
The right door will open at the right time. And when it does, you’ll understand why the other one had to close.
Trust the closed door as much as the open one. God’s got you.

Prayer

God, I confess – I’ve been frustrated about the doors that closed. I’ve been questioning Your decision, mourning what didn’t work out, wondering if I did something wrong. Help me trust that You close doors for a reason – to protect me, redirect me, or prepare me. Give me peace about what didn’t happen and faith for what’s coming. Let me trust Your NO as much as Your YES. The right door will open. I’m trusting You. Amen.
The closed door isn’t rejection. It’s protection, redirection, or preparation. Trust God’s NO.
