Wisdom Over Knowledge
A devotional for the woman who’s learning that knowing and doing are two different things
Scripture
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5
Today’s Truth
You have more knowledge than you’ve ever had. More courses. More books. More podcasts. More content. More information at your fingertips than any generation before you.
And yet sometimes you still feel stuck. Still unsure. Still spinning.
Because knowledge isn’t the problem. WISDOM is what you need.
Knowledge tells you WHAT to do. Wisdom tells you WHEN, HOW, and WHETHER to do it. Knowledge fills your head. Wisdom guides your steps. Knowledge is available to anyone with an internet connection. Wisdom is available to those who ask God for it.
There’s a difference between the woman who knows all the business strategies and the woman who knows WHICH strategy to use in THIS season for THIS business at THIS moment. Between the woman who has read every parenting book and the woman who knows how to reach her specific child. Between the woman who knows all the financial principles and the woman who knows exactly what move to make with HER money right now.
That gap? That’s wisdom.
And God is the source of it. Not Google. Not your mentor. Not the latest business book. Not the viral thread with 50,000 saves. Those things can carry knowledge. But wisdom – the specific, personal, perfectly-timed direction for YOUR life? That comes from God.
And here’s the most generous thing about this promise: He gives it WITHOUT FINDING FAULT. He doesn’t withhold wisdom because you’ve made mistakes. He doesn’t make you earn it. He doesn’t give it reluctantly. He gives it GENEROUSLY to anyone who asks.
Your Moment
Today, before you reach for the next podcast, the next course, the next piece of content – pause and ask God for wisdom first.
About that business decision you keep going back and forth on? Ask for wisdom. About that relationship dynamic you can’t figure out? Ask for wisdom. About that next financial move? Ask for wisdom. About how to show up for your family in this season? Ask for wisdom.
He promised to give it. Generously. Without fault.
So ask. Then listen. Then move on what He gives you.
Prayer
God, I need wisdom more than I need information. I have enough knowledge – what I need is Your specific, personal, perfectly-timed direction for my life. You promised to give wisdom generously to anyone who asks, so I’m asking. Guide my business decisions, my family choices, my financial moves, my next steps. Give me wisdom that I couldn’t find in any book or course. I’m asking, listening, and ready to move on what You give me. Amen.
You don’t need more information. You need wisdom. Ask God. He gives it generously.
